ABOUT THE RIVERDALE ART WALK
Riverdale Art Walk is a two-day, public fine art exhibition showcasing established and emerging artists in Jimmie Simpson Park in Toronto’s flourishing Queen East arts district. The first outdoor art show of Toronto’s season, participating artists are selected through an anonymous jury process, allowing an opportunity to participate in the only outdoor art show that focuses ONLY on fine art. It has consistently been rated by local artists as one of the best organized shows in Toronto.
Last year, the festival hosted over 170 participating artists and the inclusion of local community groups, entertainment and food vendors. Artist Awards in Photography, Painting, Mixed Media, and Other Media have been created through exciting new sponsorships with local organizations and businesses. Now in its 18th year in the Riverdale/Leslieville area of Toronto, the festival has grown to reach an audience of over 10,000 art enthusiasts and supporters. Through new partnership opportunities with the local BIA, the Riverdale Art Walk expects to continue to grow.
With our intensive orientation session and strong artists support, 96% of RAW artists indicated overall communications “Best Ever” or “Better than Average’, you don’t want to miss this show!
Please read our exhibition guidelines in detail before applying. The application must be completed in full, including the payment of required fees, to be considered.
NEW THIS YEAR
Indoor space available in Jimmie Simpson Community Centre! Over the past few years, we have had artists request indoor space. This year, we have secured space in the Jimmie Simpson Community Centre for a limited number of artists. You will be sheltered from the weather and will not have to pack and unpack your art at the end of each day. We will heavily promote and direct visitors to both indoor and outdoor booths.

Where: held in the Riverdale area, the Riverdale Art Walk is held primarily in Jimmie Simpson Park (Outdoors) plus, NEW this year, the indoor space of the Jimmie Simpson Community Centre (Indoors), connected to the park.
APPLICATION FEES - The Artists’ Network has a 2-tier fee structure which includes a non-refundable administration fee of $35.00. If your work is not chosen by the jury, the Artists’ Network will refund the participation fee. All booths spaces are 10’ x 10’. Shared booths are not permitted. Please indicate either indoor or outdoor space preferred.

The Artists Network does not take a commission for any sales during the Riverdale Art Walk. All sales in good faith are the responsibility of the artists. Credit card process is available onsite as part of membership.
CANCELLATION POLICY AND DATES
Cancellations must be received in writing by the following dates:
On or before April 7, 2016 - full refund - $35 administration fee
From April 8 - May 1, 2016 – 50% refund - $35 administration fee
May 2 – June 4, 2016 – cancellations receiving after May 2 will not receive a refund.
APPLICATION PROCESS AND IMAGE
The application process has 2 parts – after you login, you must choose your category and pay for the submission, then, click on “your submission” and upload your 5 images to the site. If your images are not loading correctly, ensure they are not too large. Once you have uploaded your images your submission is complete.
All five JPEG images must be sized to a maximum of 1024 X 768 pixels and 300 dpi. Each individual jpg file must be saved no larger than 2MB. The Riverdale Art Walk is juried by professionals in the industry. They are looking for a consistent theme to the work, as well as originality and quality. Please be sure you follow the requirements of your JPEGS and be sure they are of high quality. Only original art will be accepted – reproductions and giclees, craft, jewellery will not be accepted. Non-adherence to this policy will result in your being asked to remove said pieces.
We heavily promote the Riverdale Art Walk – via social media, postcard dissemination to high income neighbourhoods, newspaper and magazine advertising and our guide is disseminated to cover 400,000 NOW magazine readers.
AUTOMATIC ACCEPTANCE FOR NETWORK
MEMBERS – EARLY BIRD REG ONLY
We value our members – if you are an Artists’ Network member and have shown in the Riverdale Art Walk in 2015, you are automatically eligible to participate in this year’s shows. You MUST be a member at the time of submission AND during the Riverdale Art Walk dates. Applies to Early Bird submissions only.
Booth allocation will be drawn at random in 3 batches: early bird, regular submission and late submission. If you have a specific request, please let us know post acceptance and, we will attempt to place you in the best available booth that most closely matches your request when your name is drawn. No guarantees of location are made and all locations are subject to change due to park conditions. We will do our best to accommodate any medical restrictions.
All accepted artists and galleries will be featured in our online gallery and listed in our event guide.
An Onsite Gallery will be located facing Queen Street to promote all participating artists. Each artist is encouraged to contribute a 12” x 12” piece for the gallery. This will enable visitors to navigate the park and find your booth.
