ABOUT ARTWALK IN THE SQUARE

ArtWalk in the Square is a juried show featuring ONLY fine art. With over 70 established and emerging artists exhibiting painting, photography, mixed media, printmaking, drawing, glass and sculpture, we are confident you will find that perfect piece for your home.

The intimate central square at the Shops at Don Mills provides a wonderful way to spend a summer day. Come out early, see some art, talk the artists themselves about what you see. Then stay for lunch, do some errands, and come back again to pick up your new art purchase! This is a great opportunity to shop for affordable and unique artworks. You can get in on the ground floor with emerging artists, or be on the lookout
for your favourite established Canadian artists. GET OUT AND GET ART!

ArtWalk in the Square is a three-day, public fine art exhibition showcasing established and emerging artists at the CF Shops at Don Mills, is where fashion, dining and entertainment come outside to play. Visit Ontario’s first and finest open-air centre with exceptional shops, restaurants and services surrounding a lovely Town Square. This upscale centre hosts shops such as Anthropologie, Michael Kors and Roots combined with restaurants, coffee shops and the Cineplex VIP movie theatre. Last year, the Shops at Don Mills tracked over 17,000 unique visitors to the square during ArtWalk in the Square, with store sales up 2% over the weekend.

ArtWalk in the Square will be juried and we anticipate room for about 100 artists. Artist Awards in Photography, Painting, Mixed Media, and Other Media have been created through exciting new sponsorships with local organizations and businesses. We are working with the local retailers to create additional showing opportunities such as cross promotions and a windows program.

Please read our exhibition guidelines in detail before applying. The application must be completed in full, including the payment of required fees, to be considered.

APPLICATION FEES

The application fee includes a non-refundable administration fee of $35.00. If your work is not chosen by the jury, the Artists’ Network will refund the application fee minus the $35 administration fee.

OTHER COSTS

Artists are responsible for providing their own tent, grids etc. Rentals will be available.

All booth spaces are 10’ x 10’. White tents are required. Collectives and shared booths are not permitted.

The Artists Network does not take a commission for any sales during the Riverdale Art Walk. All sales in good faith are the responsibility of the artists. Credit card process is available onsite as part of membership.

CANCELLATION POLICY AND DATES

Cancellations must be received in writing by the following dates:

On or before April 10, 2018 – full refund – $35 administration fee

From April 11 – April 23, 2018 –  50% refund – $35 administration fee

April 24 – June 2, 2018 – cancellations receiving after April 24 will not receive a refund.

JURY DETAILS

ArtWalk in the Square is juried by professionals in the industry. They are looking for a consistent theme to the work, as well as originality and quality. Please be sure you follow the requirements of your JPEGS and be sure they are of high quality.  Only original art will be accepted – reproductions and giclees (except for photographic artists), craft, jewellery will not be accepted Non-adherence to this policy will result in your being asked to remove said pieces.

PROMOTION

We heavily promote the ArtWalk in the Square – via social media, postcard dissemination to high income neighbourhoods, digital and print ads in the Globe and Mail and Post publications. We promote our shows via social online event calendars and distribute our event guide to local hotels, restaurants and retail locations. In addition, we provide artists with the tools they need to promote their participation in our shows.

AUTOMATIC ACCEPTANCE FOR NETWORK MEMBERS – EARLY BIRD

We value our members – if you are an Artists’ Network member and have shown in the Riverdale Art Walk OR ArtWalk in the Square in 2017, you are automatically eligible to participate in this year’s shows.  You MUST be a member at the time of submission. Applies to Early Bird submissions only.

BOOTH SELECTION

Booth allocation will be drawn at random in 3 batches: early bird, regular submission and late submission. If you have a specific request, please let us know post acceptance and we will attempt to place you in the best available booth that most closely matches your request when your name is drawn. No guarantees of location are made and all locations are subject to change due to park conditions. We will do our best to accommodate any medical restrictions.

ARTIST GALLERY

All accepted artists and galleries will be featured in our online gallery and listed in our event guide. An Onsite Gallery will be located at the Artists’ Network booth on Aggie Hogg and will be used to promote all participating artists. Each artist is encouraged to contribute a 12” x 12” piece for the gallery. This will enable visitors to navigate the show and find your booth.

CODE OF CONDUCT

The Artists’ Network is committed to always act with fairness, honesty, integrity and openness; respect the opinions of others and treat all with equality and dignity without regard to gender, race, colour, creed, ancestry, place of origin, political beliefs, religion, marital status, disability, age, or sexual orientation. We expect the same from our artist members. We will not tolerate any abusive or threatening behaviour towards any member of our team. Refusal to comply with this policy may result in an artist being asked to leave the show.
