Stephanie Vegh

Stephanie Vegh is a visual artist, arts writer and arts worker born and based in Hamilton, where she received her Combined Honours BA in Studio Art and Comparative Literature at McMaster University.

Vegh earned her MFA at the Glasgow School of Art and remained in the United Kingdom for two years as Artist in Residence at the Repton School in Derbyshire while building her profile as an arts writer for galleries and publications.

Since returning to Hamilton in 2007, her growing portfolio of writing has included a regular correspondent role with MAP Magazine in Scotland, reviews for Canadian Art, C Magazine and Studio Magazine, and exhibition essays for various galleries throughout southern Ontario.

Currently, Vegh is the visual arts contributor to Hamilton City Magazine and continues to write reviews and commissioned projects. Vegh has mentored artists and provided professional development support throughout her career as Executive Director of the Hamilton Arts Council (2011-2017) and in her current role as Head of Learning at the Art Gallery of Burlington.
